Div Com reviews implementation of CM’s directions, DDB decisions at Reasi | KNO

Calls for tapping full tourism, horticulture potential

Divisional Commissioner Jammu Dr. Mandeep K Bhandari today chaired a meeting of district administration to review action taken on the CM’s directions and decisions of the district development board, besides physical and financial progress of various ongoing development projects in the district. The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Prasanna Ramaswamy G, ADDC Ramesh Chander, SSP Tahir Bhat, ADC Babu Ram, ACD M.Y. Malik, Superintendent Engineers of R&B, PMGSY, Hydraulic N.D Khawaja, Rajesh Gandotra and Jagdish Singh Chib, Executive Engineers and various other district officers. The Div Com reviewed the pace of progress on major projects including Phali-Tuli Banna road, Kanda-Ransoo road, Range office building at Mahore, Grid Station at Seela, introduction of modern trades in ITI Reasi and Dharmari, development of Industrial Estate, development of floriculture park near Kalika temple, wind energy plant at Bidda, Bridge over Anji Nalla, development of Sulla park, modernization of Reasi market and many other minor and major works taken up in the district. The Div Com stressed for timely completion of all roads and building projects and called for greater synergy and cooperation between executing agencies and administration. He stressed on evolving clean and responsive administration to work for welfare of the common masses. About the development of Bhim Fort, the Div Com asked the concerned to complete the work under various components and make it one of the prime tourist destinations in the district. He stressed on administration to attract tourists to this site from Katra, Shiv Khori and other tourist places. He said efforts are also required to promote tourism at Mahadev Temple, Kalika temple, Siard Baba etc. Earlier, Deputy Commissioner apprised Div Com on various initiatives taken for speeding up the development process in the district besides providing services to the local at their doorsteps. He assured the Div Com that strict measures would be taken for those who do not work to the satisfaction of the people or hamper the services delivery mechanism. The Div Com also laid stress on promotion of rafting in river Chenab and said that till the tourism department go for specified or professional type of rafting, the district administration should create basic facilities with the cooperation of local people and concerned agencies. For developing Kund-Kanyari as orange village in the district, the Div Com instructed the horticulture department to make necessary follow-ups and ensure its cent percent execution on the ground to tap the potential and benefit the local farmers and fruit growers. Taking serious note of poor maintenance of PMGSY roads in Arnas and Mahore areas, the Div Com instructed the concerned engineers to expedite the construction for completion. He also asked them to involve some agency for establishment of Bitumen plant at suitable location so that the roads are blacktopped soon. Later, the Div Com visited Bhim Fort, Baradari and also attended a function regarding Eid-Diwali Milan at Dakbunglow which was hosted by local people of all communities and Human Rights representatives.
